Hardware Requirements
HelpCounter is a web based application that runs in any of the major browsers. For its basic functionality, almost any machine with internet access that will run a browser will work. For absolute basic function it's simply a matter of logging into your account with no additional setup required.
HelpCounter's overhead is very low and will normally run fine on any machine that will run a modern browser. Older, re-purposed machines are generally fine.
Some enhanced features will require additional hardware and may restrict what type of computer may be used.
For example, printing badges for volunteers and visitors requires using a Dymo Labelwriter printer. This hardware must be purchased separately. Additionally, using a Dymo printer requires installation ofthe Dymo Labelwriter program which is only available for Windows or Mac OS.
Capturing volunteer and visitor pictures requires access to the machine's camera via the browser. This will work with Windows, Macs, and Chromebooks, but not Ipads.

Optional Hardware
Our license fee is for the software license only. There is optional hardware necessary if you'd like HelpCounter to print visitor badges or scan from barcodes. While we could sell these items ourselves, we would have to charge a higher price and offer slower shipping than some of the excellent retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, Office Depot, etc. So we'll focus on the software and refer you to retail experts for the hardware.

Pro-rated Billing Cycle
The annual billing cycle goes from Sept-Aug with no charge for July & August. To get on this billing cycle, schools starting their first year after September will be pro-rated for the balance of the first year at $15 per month through June. For example, if you start in November, it would be $120 for the balance of the first school year and the following years would be $150 per year Sept. through Aug. Note: while we don't charge for July and August the service is operational year round for the full calendar year, we just don't charge for the summer. Although we haven't had a price increase in 10 years, pricing does need to be subject to change without notice.
